The four-megapixel sensor captures detailed images in 2.5K resolution, while the motorised rotation offers wide coverage without needing to manually adjust the camera. Advanced AI can recognise a person, a cat, or a dog, and also react to a baby's cry or an unusually loud noise. Through the Xiaomi Home app, you can watch the live feed, rotate the camera, receive notifications, and communicate with people in the room. The features are complemented by infrared night vision, two-way audio, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, and several recording storage options.

Detailed 2.5K Resolution Image
The four-megapixel camera captures video at a maximum resolution of 2,560 × 1,440 pixels. Compared to a standard Full HD image, it can capture more details that can be useful when checking a face, a pet's movement, or events in a more distant part of the room. The high 2.5K resolution provides a clear and detailed image for both live viewing and subsequent playback.
Wide Room Coverage with No Blind Spots
A pair of motors allows the camera to be rotated remotely via the Xiaomi Home app. The horizontal coverage reaches 360° and the vertical range is 101°, so you can easily check different parts of the room from a single installation point. The camera's view can be adjusted remotely, without you having to be physically present in the home.
Night Vision without a Disruptive Red Glow
Infrared LEDs with a wavelength of 940nm allow the camera to monitor the area even in the dark. During operation, they do not create a visible red light that could disturb the sleep of a child or other household members. The Xiaomi Smart Camera C401 thus provides a clear night image without unnecessarily drawing attention to itself in a dark room.
Smart Human Detection and Automatic Tracking
AI human figure recognition helps distinguish a person from normal movement in the frame. After detecting a person, the camera can automatically track their movement and send a notification to your phone. You will receive information about important events without having to constantly check the live feed. The individual AI functions can be enabled and managed in the Xiaomi Home app.
Supervision of Your Child and Pets
The camera can recognise cats and dogs and send you a notification when they are detected. You can remotely check whether your pet has enough water, is resting, or is moving in a place it's not allowed. Crying detection will alert you to a woken baby, while loud noise recognition can capture, for example, a scream or the sound of breaking glass.
Real-Time Two-Way Communication
The built-in microphone captures sound from a distance of up to approximately 5 metres, and ambient noise reduction technology helps maintain a clearer voice. Through the Xiaomi Home app, you can talk to your family, alert your child, or soothe a pet. A large integrated speaker ensures louder and clearer reproduction of your voice in the room.
Stable Connection via Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6
The Xiaomi Smart Camera C401 supports Wi-Fi 6 in the 2.4 and 5GHz bands. You can take advantage of the longer range of the 2.4GHz band or the higher transmission speed and lower network load of the 5GHz band. The dual-band connection helps ensure a more stable live feed and smoother camera control. Bluetooth 5.4 is also available for initial pairing and communication with compatible devices.
Efficient H.265 Encoding and Multiple Storage Options
The modern H.265 codec reduces the data demands of video and, compared to H.264, can reduce storage space and bandwidth consumption by up to half for the same image quality. Recordings can be stored on a microSD card with a capacity of up to 512GB, in supported cloud storage, or backed up to a compatible NAS. To store on a NAS, a microSD card must be inserted into the camera. The memory card and NAS are not included in the package, and extended cloud services may require a subscription.
Privacy Protection and Secure Transmission
The camera uses the MJA1 chip, local AI processing, and encrypted communication with the cloud. This combination helps protect transmitted data and reduce the risk of unauthorised access. Part of the smart recognition takes place directly on the device, which supports a fast response and enhanced privacy protection.
Voice Control and Flexible Installation
The camera works with compatible devices using Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa, on which you can display the live feed with a voice command. The Xiaomi Smart Camera C401 can be placed on a flat surface or mounted upside down on the ceiling. When mounting upside down, simply rotate the image to the correct position in the Xiaomi Home app. The mounting base, screws, wall plugs, and installation template are included in the package.
