The IP44 protection rating is a standardized code that indicates the level of a device's resistance to the ingress of foreign objects and water. The first digit "4" means that the device is protected against the ingress of solid objects with a diameter of 1 mm and larger, which includes, for example, most wires and small tools. The second digit "4" specifies protection against splashing water coming from any direction. Headphones or a speaker with this protection rating will therefore easily withstand sweat during sports, rain, or accidental water splashes. However, the device is not fully waterproof and therefore cannot be submerged underwater.
