Wi-Fi 6 and transfer speeds
The system operates on the Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) standard and maintains backward compatibility with older 802.11a/g/n/ac standards. It is a dual-band device operating on the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies. The total transfer speed corresponds to the AX5400 class. The 2.4GHz band provides speeds of 574Mbps (2×2), while the 5GHz band reaches speeds of 4804Mbps (4×4). Beamforming technology actively directs the signal towards connected devices, improving its strength and stability.
Mesh system and advanced technologies
TP-Link Mesh technology forms a single unified network with one name and password. As you move around your home, your devices automatically and seamlessly connect to the unit with the strongest signal. This achieves smooth, uninterrupted coverage. The low latency that Wi-Fi 6 provides is a benefit for online gaming and lag-free video calls. To efficiently handle a high number of devices, the system uses OFDMA and MU-MIMO technologies. These features increase network capacity and enable simultaneous communication with multiple clients, which is crucial in an environment with many smart devices.
Security and network management
Network protection is handled by modern WPA3 encryption, supplemented by the older WPA and WPA2 standards. An integrated SPI Firewall prevents unauthorised access from the internet. The TP-Link HomeShield package also includes tools for comprehensive protection. HomeShield provides advanced parental controls, real-time antivirus protection, and a QoS feature for prioritising network traffic. You can manage the system and perform the initial setup via the Deco mobile app (for Android and iOS) or through the web interface. The system also supports voice control with Alexa.
Connectivity options
The WiFi system is equipped with two Gigabit Ethernet ports on each unit, which support WAN/LAN auto-sensing. The ports are used for connecting to a modem or for creating a wired link between units (ethernet backhaul). Each unit contains four internal antennas to optimise signal coverage. The units are powered by the included power adapters.
