The Synology RS1226+ NAS is a network storage solution for managing, backing up and sharing company data in distributed and edge environments. This 2U rackmount device accommodates up to 8 hard drives and features two slots for fast M.2 NVMe SSD caching. The system is powered by a quad-core 64-bit AMD Ryzen V1500B processor running at 2.2GHz and 4GB of DDR4 ECC memory, which can be expanded up to 32GB. Its 306.6mm deep design is perfect for mounting in standard 19" racks.

Data management
The device uses the DiskStation Manager operating system, which unifies file and folder management. Users can synchronise data across different platforms and branches from a single location. Detailed user activity logs record all changes to sharing settings, maintaining a complete audit trail. Administrators can set precise access rights and permissions for individual folders and entire volumes.
Backup and recovery
Active Backup for Business centralises the protection of your company's infrastructure. The system backs up Windows, Mac and Linux endpoints, VMware and Hyper-V virtual machines, and Synology servers themselves. Integrated tools for creating system snapshots offer rapid data recovery in the event of an unexpected outage. There is also support for Apple Time Machine and direct data backup to cloud services.
Real-time team collaboration
The Synology Office Suite supports collaborative creation and editing of documents, spreadsheets and presentations. Users can communicate via the integrated Chat platform with encrypted private channels and group conversations. Running a local email server maintains full control over company correspondence and sensitive data. The system also supports API key integration to use AI assistance from leading providers.
Surveillance system
The storage unit serves as a monitoring server, supporting up to 40 IP cameras simultaneously. The integrated Video Management System offers tools for live monitoring, incident investigation, and management and backup of captured footage. Compatibility with over 17000 camera models simplifies the management of large-scale camera systems. Remote monitoring and playback make it easy to supervise company premises from any location.
Performance and expandability
The network interface consists of two 2.5GbE ports, complemented by a free PCIe Gen3 slot for installing additional network cards. Sequential read speeds exceed 2300MB/s and write speeds are over 1500MB/s. Two integrated M.2 NVMe slots are used to set up an SSD cache to accelerate the disk array.
