The 3U device supports a hybrid disk architecture and runs on the QuTS hero operating system. Hybrid architecture
The design includes sixteen bays for 3.5" SATA hard drives and six bays for 2.5" SATA SSDs. This layout combines the capacity of spinning drives with the speed of SSDs. Users can utilise SSDs as a cache to accelerate demanding data operations. The hybrid concept reduces the cost of acquiring storage space while maintaining fast file access.
Intel Xeon processor and ECC memory
The hardware is based on an eight-core Intel Xeon E-2378 processor with a frequency of 2.6GHz, which increases to 4.8GHz under load. The hardware specification consists of 64GB of DDR4 ECC RAM, which can be expanded to 128GB. This configuration handles demanding virtualisation tasks and runs multiple containerised applications simultaneously. Additionally, the ECC memory actively detects and corrects single-bit errors, preventing system data corruption.
QuTS hero operating system
The device runs on the QuTS hero operating system, which is based on the 128-bit ZFS file system. This system focuses on data integrity and includes storage management tools. Inline deduplication and compression technology significantly reduce the physical capacity requirements of the drives. Users also have access to a self-healing function for automatically repairing corrupted data blocks.
Network interface
The network interface includes two 10GBASE-T ports and two 2.5GbE RJ45 ports for high-speed data transfer on the corporate network. Support for Port Trunking and failover functions helps prevent connection dropouts if one of the routes fails. The fast interface speeds up work with large files and reduces backup times. The device can be integrated into an existing network infrastructure without the need for costly modifications.
PCIe interface expandability
Three free PCIe Gen 4 slots are available for installing add-on cards to expand the entire system's functionality. These slots can be fitted with network cards up to 100GbE, QM2 cards for M.2 SSDs, or compatible graphics processors. Installing a graphics card supports hardware video encoding and passthrough to virtual machines. This modularity helps with future performance expansion according to the company's current needs.
Data backup and recovery
The Hybrid Backup Sync application unifies backup, restore, and synchronisation tasks into a single interface. Users can save data to remote storage, the cloud, or other local devices. Support for block-level system snapshots protects files from the consequences of ransomware attacks. In the event of an incident, the system can be quickly restored to its previous state.
