Phase Hybrid Autofocus for shooting in action
Autofocus is all about how quickly and faithfully you can capture your subject. In addition to contrast autofocus, the LUMIX DC-S5 is the first LUMIX mirrorless camera to offer a phase detection autofocus system. which greatly improves object tracking and light recognition. The camera can capture the subject even in challenging multi-subject scenes and provides accuracy even in low-light or backlit environments.
Recognition of people/animals/cars/motorcycles/planes/trains
Phase Hybrid Autofocus lets you shoot continuously fast and accurately, and the LUMIX DC-S5's highly advanced autofocus pushes the boundaries in sports, wildlife and car/motorcycle photography. "Airplane" and "Train" have been added to the subject recognition features, so you can easily capture an even wider range of scenes*.
*To use the animal/car/motorcycle/airplane/train eye recognition and pre-burst shooting function, update the firmware to version 2.2.

779-point AF and (6.5 steps*, Dual I. S. 2 (image stabilizer)
The number of AF points has been increased to 779. Improved tracking performance allows the camera to capture even small objects that are easy to blur. Even when using the 1 area AF function, the AF frame can be adjusted down to the pinpoint level, helping the filmmaker focus on the subject as intended. 5-axis dual I. S. 2 (image stabilizer) combines the control of B functions. I. S. and Lens O. I. S. and offers a correction of up to 6.5 steps. *

LUMIX has long provided support for handheld photography with Image Stabilizer B. I. S. and a 5-axis dual stabilizer I. S.2. LUMIX S5IIX is equipped with Active I. S., which supports shooting while walking and takes image stabilization in video recording to a new level. Active I. S. determines the camera shake condition and optimizes correction ratios to compensate of both expressive movement and advanced E. I. S. * suppresses peripheral distortion that occurs when shooting video. So now you can take beautiful pictures even if you have to move quickly while the camera is in motion.

Proxy video recording and native Camera to Cloud integration with Adobe Frame. io

The LUMIX S5IIX allows RAW video data to be output via HDMI and saved in ProRes RAW format on ATOMOS NINJA V+, NINJA V and Shogun CONNECT HDR monitors*. Blackmagic RAW can also be recorded on Video Assist 12G HDR equipment. **

With 6K modes (5952x3968, 3:2), 6K (5952x3136, 17:9) and 5.9K (5888x3312, 16:9) 4:2:0 10bit 30p/25p/24p, the LUMIX S5IIX offers higher resolution and higher bit rates than ever before, delivering high image quality, the versatility and expressive range needed for film, television and all types of video production. LUMIX S5IIX supports recording and playback using an external SSD via USB. The ability to record ProRes 422 HQ (maximum 1.9 Gbps) and 4:2:2 10bit All-Intra directly to SSDs combines portability and high capacity, plus increased efficiency for backup and post-processing.
Live anytime, anywhere
Enjoy creative live streaming with digital single-lens mirrorless cameras, both indoors and out. Live streaming* (RTMPS protocol) can be easily configured via LUMIX Lab**.
* Live streaming to RTMPS compliant platforms is possible in principle (not guaranteed to be compatible with all platforms). There may be cases where live streaming is not possible after a change of platform service. Please refer to the Platform Terms for further information. Since the bit rate of live streaming varies depending on the internet environment, smartphone performance, etc., it is recommended to perform a test of the stream beforehand.

Heat management for unlimited recording time
The LUMIX S5IIX has a compact body equivalent to the S5 and an optimized heat dissipation structure that allows for longer recording even under heavy load (e.g. high-definition video over 4K, HFR video).
*The camera may stop recording if it is used at a temperature lower or higher than the recommended operating temperature (0 to 40 degrees). Recording stops when the continuous recording time exceeds 30 minutes at the following settings: [MOV] in [6K/29.97p] [6K/25.00p] [5.9K/29.97p] [5.9K/25.00p] or [ProRes] in [5.8K/29.97p] [5.8K/25.00p] [C4K/59.94p] [C4K/50.00p] when the thermal management mode is set to Standard.

The new generation system
The new system provides approximately twice the computing power of before, enabling high-speed, higher-resolution, higher-bit-rate video processing. It features technology invested in and jointly developed by LEICA and LUMIX. The combination of the new sensor and motor enables phase detection autofocus and high image quality for photos and videos.
More than 14 steps V-Log and V-Gamut "VariCam Look"
The pre-installed V-Log and V-Gamut modes are compatible with Cinema VariCam Look, offering more than 14 steps of dynamic range and a very wide colour spectrum. Users will appreciate incredibly accurate colour reproduction, smooth transitions from dark areas to bright light and precise colour management capabilities in post-production. The end result is a more creative output with better colour expression. Plus, you can easily edit footage from the LUMIX S5IIX together with footage from VariCam cameras. The LUMIX S5IIX's V-Log offers more than 14 steps of dynamic range, matching the PQ requirements of HDR, while V-Gamut covers the full HDR colour spectrum, giving users access to HDR technology wherever they are when shooting.

Easy colour grading with REAL TIME LUT and Live View Composite
Photos and videos applied with LUT can be recorded internally without the use of special software. Even if you don't have specialized editing skills, the camera can help you expand your expressive capabilities as much as you want. Live View Composite is ideal for capturing images of the night sky with light paths of stars or fireworks. The camera takes several images and only those images where the brightness varies are composited into a composite image. Each time the shutter is released, a composite image is displayed so the user can see the result in real time.

With the new sensor's faster readout speed and the new system's higher processing power, the LUMIX S5IIX delivers sequential AFC shooting via electronic shutter with 30 frames per second at 24.2 megapixels. The faster sensor reading speed also minimizes shutter movement. Firmware version 2.0 offers advanced flexibility to set the pre-burst effect to 0.5, 1.0 or 1.5 seconds. Now you'll never miss a crucial moment in even the most dynamic situations, from the flap of a bird's wings to an unexpected play on the field.
96MP ultra high resolution recording
In high-resolution mode, the camera automatically captures consecutive images as the sensor shifts and high-speed signal processing seamlessly synthesizes them into a 96 megapixel (12,000 × 8,000 pixel) equivalent image. It allows you to capture beautiful natural scenery and detailed artwork in ultra-high resolution. The LUMIX S5IIX supports RAW file recording, JPEG file recording and RAW processing during playback, with quick access from the control mode dial. With firmware version 1.3, the shutter speed in high resolution mode can now be set to max. 8 seconds when using long exposure noise reduction. Handheld High-Res* mode has been added thanks to the Image Stabilizer, allowing you to capture higher resolution images without the use of a tripod.

HFR and max. 7.5× slow motion and max. 60× accelerated movement
Slow motion HFR recording, a recent trend in video production, is made possible by 10-bit FHD 120p/100p video recording with audio. Or capture high-resolution C4K/4K 10-bit (4:3) and 3.3K 10-bit (4:3) video at 48p. You can even shoot double slow motion video at a cinematic 24p frame rate. Allows AF tracking during HFR video recording. It offers up to 7.5x super slow motion video recording (FHD 24p/180sn. /s) at 10 bits. The LUMIX S5IIX features slow-motion and fast-motion modes, allowing you to easily rewind or rewind video while shooting. With accelerated motion up to 60x (C4K/4K/FHD 60p/1fps), the S5IIX allows you to create emotional images or seamlessly capture dynamic movements that are too fast for the naked eye.
4 channel audio recording
The LUMIX S5IIX provides much better audio recording performance with the option of 4-channel 48kHz or 96kHz 24-bit recording* when the XLR Microphone Adapter DMW-XLR1 or XLR2* (sold separately) is connected. The LUMIX S5IIX provides much more flexibility when shooting outdoors, for example in places where multiple sound sources are present or when recording backup audio. It now also supports 2-channel 48kHz 24-bit recording with built-in microphone and 2-channel 96kHz 24-bit high-resolution recording** with external microphone (sold separately).

The ALL-Intra compression method, which allows frame-by-frame decoding/encoding, is ideal for non-linear editing. The LUMIX S5IIX can record at up to C4K/4K 800 Mpbs. In addition, you can record videos with ProRes 422 HQ and ProRes 422** codecs, the industry professional standard for high image quality with low compression. It significantly reduces the load on the computer during post-production and enables non-linear editing without transcoding, simplifying the workflow from start to finish. The LUMIX S5IIX can internally record FHD (1920x1080) and 5.8K (5776x3056, 17:9), C4K (4096x2160, 17:9) and 3.3K (3328x2496, 4:3) to an external SSD via USB.
*Recording to on-board memory at up to 800 Mbps is possible, while recording above 800 Mbps can be done to an external SSD via USB cable.
