MG Element Detection

MG element detection verifies the magnetic properties of a banknote. Genuine banknotes of many currencies contain magnetic inks that are applied at specific places in the print in a characteristic pattern. As the banknote passes through the counter, it moves past a magnetic head that records the presence, intensity and distribution of the magnetic elements. The resulting signal is compared with reference values for the relevant currency and denomination. Counterfeits printed with ordinary inks usually have no magnetic properties or show a different signal pattern, and are therefore detected. MG element detection is fast and reliable, which is why it is a common part of banknote counter equipment. It works best in combination with other verification methods.
