The term „full tang“ refers to a type of construction where the knife is made from a single continuous piece of steel. The part of the steel that forms the blade smoothly transitions into the so-called tang, which extends along the entire length of the handle. This steel tang has the same shape and width as the handle itself and is usually visible around its entire perimeter, sandwiched between two pieces of handle material, called scales. Thanks to this design, the knife is stronger and better balanced, as the weight of the metal in the handle counterbalances the weight of the blade.
