Fujifilm Fujinon XF 56mm f/1.2 R WR

Fujifilm Fujinon XF 56mm f/1.2 R WR
The FUJINON XF 56mm F1.2 R WR is a fast fixed lens with a medium focal length of 56mm (equivalent to 85mm in 35mm format). It succeeds its popular F1.2 predecessor (FUJIONON XF 56mm F1.2 R; "previous model"), but features significant improvements in minimum focus distance, performance at higher frame resolutions, and beautiful rendering of blurred backgrounds. The focused areas show every detail in high resolution, while the open aperture can create beautiful bokeh in the background that makes the subject stand out and adds extra impact to the image.

Key Features of the Fujifilm Fujinon XF 56mm f/1.2 R WR
- Improved minimum focusing distance of 50 cm for greater flexibility
- 11 aperture blades for a near-perfect aperture circle and beautiful bokeh
- Design with 13 elements in 8 groups, including ED and aspherical elements for better resolution
- Super EBC surface treatment for glare suppression and contrast enhancement
- Dust and moisture resistant, able to operate at temperatures down to -10 °C
- Lightweight and compact design weighing 445 g and 76 mm in length for easy mobility
- Fast and quiet autofocusing thanks to DC motor and bearing mechanism to minimise friction
Improved minimum focusing distance for wider shooting options
The previous model was suitable for portrait photography thanks to its open F1.2 aperture. However, the new lens has an improved minimum focusing distance that makes it easier to photograph small subjects and is suitable for a variety of shooting situations, including street photography.

Enhanced image resolution with ED and aspherical elements
The XF 56mm F1.2 R WR consists of 13 elements in eight groups, including one ED element and two aspherical elements, improving image resolution over the previous model.
Shortened minimum focusing distance and improved bokeh with precision aspherical elements
The minimum focusing distance has been reduced to just 50cm from the sensor surface, which is 20cm less than the previous model. A metal mould processed with advanced precision to one hundred thousandth of a millimetre is used to produce aspherical elements that are capable of reducing the onion-ring effect in bokeh. Super EBC coating is used to reduce glare and ghosting and to improve contrast and colour accuracy in bright conditions and backlight.

Fujifilm's first lens with 11 aperture blades for perfect bokeh
This is Fujifilm's first lens to use 11 aperture blades to achieve a near-perfect aperture circle. Compared to the previous model's seven-bladed aperture, the new model provides a near-perfect circle even when the lens is only slightly tilted and not wide open, creating beautiful bokeh in many situations.
Fast and silent autofocus thanks to DC motor and bearing mechanism
A DC motor drives the eight-element focusing group and aperture unit for precise autofocusing. The lens can focus quickly and accurately even with shallow depth of field. The use of a bearing mechanism has reduced the friction created when the lens elements are driven by the DC motor. Minimising friction in the lens drive means reducing motor noise.
Compact and lightweight F1.2 high aperture lens for maximum mobility
Designed to take maximum advantage of the compact and lightweight X Mount system, the lens weighs just 445g and measures 76mm, despite being a fast, fixed lens with a high F1.2 aperture. It reduces users' effort when walking with the lens mounted on the camera and gives them a greater sense of mobility. The lens body is sealed in 9 places to ensure dust and weather resistance and the ability to operate in temperatures as low as -10°C.The front of the lens is coated with a fluorine layer to repel water and protect against stains. This means that users can shoot outdoors in light rain or dusty locations with the lens without worry.
