Canon EOS R50 digital camera with two lenses
The ideal camera for digital creators
The Canon EOS R50 is a compact mirrorless camera designed for content creators who want a significantly better image than their phone, as well as easy operation on the go. In a lightweight body, it offers a 24.2MP APS-C sensor, fast DIGIC X processor and reliable Dual Pixel CMOS AF II focusing with object tracking. Strengths include UHD 4K 30p video resampled from 6K and a handy rotating touchscreen for vlogging and shots from unconventional angles. With Wi-Fi/Bluetooth and USB-C, images and video can be easily transferred and the camera can also be used as a webcam.

Key Features of the Canon EOS R50 Digital Camera, Body, Black
- UHD 4K 30p video resampled from 6K for detailed recording
- Maximum video recording time up to 1 hour
- Full HD video up to 120p for 4x slow motion effect
- Dual Pixel CMOS AF II with people, animal and vehicle tracking
- AF coverage up to 100% horizontally and vertically with auto selection
- Fast continuous shooting up to 12 sn. /s with mechanical shutter / electronic 1st blade
- Silent continuous shooting up to 15 sn. /s with electronic shutter
- 0.39" OLED electronic viewfinder with 2.36 million dot resolution
- The Canon EOS R50 digital camera has a 2.95" rotatable touchscreen LCD with a resolution of approximately 1.62 million dots for shooting from all angles
- Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB-C for transmission, phone control and webcam use

Sensor and image quality
The 24.2MP APS-C sensor offers a good combination of detail and depth of field. In practice, it is easier to achieve a natural background blur and a "photographic" look. The DIGIC X processor ensures fast data processing and smoother camera response. ISO sensitivity extends up to 32000 with the option to extend to H: 51200.

Autofocus and object tracking
Dual Pixel CMOS AF II is designed for fast focusing and continuous tracking of the subject in the frame. The Canon EOS R50 supports detection and tracking of people (including eyes), animals and vehicles, which is especially helpful for more action-packed shooting. There are up to 651 zones and large focus coverage, so composition isn't just tied to the centre of the frame. Focusing can be used automatically or manually select the point and zone depending on the situation.

Video for content creators
The Canon EOS R50 shoots UHD 4K at up to 30p and uses oversampling from 6K for greater detail. For dynamic shots, Full HD is available with 100/119.9 sn. /s, which is saved as a slow motion video at quarter speed. Maximum length of one video can be up to 1 hour, which is suitable for longer vlogs or interviews. Stability during shooting is solved digitally and possibly also by stabilization in the mounted lens.

Display, viewfinder and controls
The rotatable touchscreen allows for low and high angle shooting as well as controlling the shot when shooting at yourself. Touch control simplifies focus point selection, menu operation and playback. The OLED electronic viewfinder is handy when shooting outdoors in direct light, when the display is harder to see. The body is small and lightweight, while offering a natural grip for a more secure hold.

Connecting and working with content
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are used to connect to your phone for file transfer and remote control. Via USB-C, the camera can easily be used as a webcam for video calling or streaming. Storage is on commonly available SD cards, including SDXC, which makes it easy to work with capacity. For audio, there is a built-in stereo microphone as well as a 3.5mm external microphone input.

Speed, series and modes
Continuous shooting reaches up to 12 sn. /s with mechanical shutter or electronic 1st vane, which helps with children, animals and sports. In silent electronic shutter mode, you can go up to 15 sn. /when you need to shoot stealth. The Canon EOS R50 offers easy shooting modes including creative options, bracketing and advanced auto scenes. There is also interval shooting with preset scenes and custom settings.
Canon S RF-S 18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM and RF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 lenses
Universal assembly without the need for additional investment
The set combines two lenses that together cover most situations from casual snapshots to distant close-ups. The entry-level RF-S 18-45mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM is a lightweight and compact zoom for everyday shooting and video, plus optical stabilisation for more confident handheld shooting. The RF 75-300mm F4-5.6 Telescope adds long reach for sports, nature or transport where you can't get close to the subject. Thanks to the EOS R100's APS-C sensor, both lenses behave "longer" when converted to full frame, which is especially advantageous with a telephoto lens. In practice, it's easy to switch between a wide shot for family events and a strong zoom on the playground or on a trip. Both lenses use the RF bayonet, so swapping is quick and compatibility fits naturally into the EOS R system. The result is a universal setup without the need for immediate additional investment.

Key Features of the Canon RF-S 18-45mm f/4.5 and Canon RF 75-300mm f/4-5.6
- RF-S 18-45mm (29-72 mm eq. ) as a versatile scope for travel, family and everyday shots
- RF-S 18-45mm optical stabilisation with up to 4 EV for more confident handheld shooting
- STM motor in RF-S 18-45mm for smooth and silent refocusing in video
- RF 75-300mm as a telescope for sports, nature and distant close-ups
- The RF 75-300mm on APS-C corresponds to approximately 120-480mm eq. for significantly longer range

Canon RF-S 18-45mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM
The Canon RF-S 18-45mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM lens is designed for EOS R APS-C bodies and works in practice as a lightweight "everyday zoom". It offers optical stabilisation with up to 4 EV, which helps when shooting handheld, especially in low light. Thanks to the STM motor, focusing is smooth and quiet, which is useful for video and casual indoor shooting. The lens is compact and weighs approximately 130g, making it an ideal starter choice for every day.

Canon RF 75-300mm F4-5.6
The 75-300mm Telescope is designed for situations where you need to get distant objects "closer" without having to get close. On an APS-C sensor body, it's roughly equivalent to 120-480mm EQ, making it practical for sports, wildlife and traffic observation. It can focus from 1.5m and offers a maximum magnification of up to 0.25x at 300mm, which helps with detail at the longer end. The design is portable (approx. 507 g) and thanks to the 7lamel aperture it can also handle pleasant background blur for portraits at longer focal lengths.

How to combine lenses in practice
The RF-S 18-45mm is best left mounted as a prime lens for most of the day, as it will cover common scenes and is compact. The RF 75-300mm is for when you need to zoom in - typically sporting events, animals or distant details in the landscape. With longer focal lengths, it's worth keeping an eye out for shorter shutter speeds, as even a little shake is more visible. This way you can get the most out of your set without having to think about which lens you "need"..

Canon EOS R50 review
Literally at first touch, the new Canon EOS R50 is indeed extremely small and lightweight, even for this camera category. One almost wants to say that it is just a cover for a giant bayonet that takes up the vast majority of the front of the camera. It's really great for everyday carry and with a squint it fits in your pocket, just like the larger compact cameras. This is also reflected in the materials used, which are largely plastic, supplemented by aluminium parts. What exactly is made of what nowadays you can't even tell, and frankly I don't think it matters anymore, as long as it serves its purpose well, which in this case is true to a T.
