Verified purchase - review from a price comparison website
This phone was a good choice for me - I have to say that I was personally surprised at how it looked, even though I've had one similar model before. In my opinion, the price was definitely worth it - it was neither too expensive nor too cheap. I was really surprised but how much functionality he has - my previous models were not so equipped. I hope he will last at least as many years as his predecessor served me.
The only thing I can't hear is the knocking inside the phone when shaking (turning on the battery). For a model that started at a 25k price tag, it's really a bummer. I'm still thinking of returning it?
little things that you can' t live without (various gestures, etc. ) )
camera (photos in the attachment)
battery life and charging speed
fluidity (144 Hz display)
charger and cable included
after about 14 days of use, I already have a lot of scratches on the display. I keep my phone in my solo pocket, but it still gets scratched, I' m guessing the zipper of the pocket.
The phone can be charged to 100% within 20 minutes (and can be set to a slower setting in case of battery condition saving)
Display quality and readability in the sun (only occasional overreaction to dimming the display when going from direct sunlight to shade)
It holds up well for its size and is relatively light
The wooden back can withstand quite a lot, so you don' t have to worry about using it without a case (it just spoils the rounded display a bit)
Standard photos, won' t offend, but other " Ultra"
Unlocking the screen without the slightest stutter (both via fingerprint and face)
It overheats quickly when charging wirelessly
The roundness of the display degrades the user' s touch response (if the area you want to click is in the roundness) - but that' s probably a general characteristic of this type of display
A battery with a smaller capacity, but it lasts the day and it is compensated by fast charging
During more demanding games, the processor overheats quite quickly
The edges of the rounded display are prone to accidental touch when holding the phone
The photos are standard, they won' t offend, but the other " Ultra" ones are just a bit further
I' m reviewing as a user switching from the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra to this new Edge 50 Ultra. Overall, I rate the phone as a step in the right direction, but there are a few compromises.
The phone fits well in the hand and is easy to use.
16GB of RAM for a more demanding user will definitely come in handy.
The photos have definitely improved compared to the older Motorola, but the post-processing would still need to catch up.
The readability of the display in light is passable.
Plastic cover in the package
Fast charging
SIM + eSIM - Useful when traveling abroad.
IP68 - should withstand rapid submersion.
Desktop mode mainly when connected directly to the monitor with a cable. I' m glad Motorola is one of the few manufacturers to keep it going.
Moto gestures!
It could be more Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 instead of 8s Gen 3 in this price tag.
I don' t quite like the new HelloUI. I prefer cleaner stock Android. (You can switch it in the settings. )
I haven' t found a function to limit the charging speed as there are times when I want to save battery life and use slower charging.
The protective glasses are hard to find because of the curved display.
I bought the phone as a gift for my dad, who always had and loves the Motorola brand. For the past eight years, he probably hasn' t had a phone from another manufacturer - he is switching from the motorola egde 30 pro to the new model motorola edge 50 ultra. He is said to remain loyal to the brand because of the addictive gestures that only Motorola phones can do, but also because of their unmistakable corporate logo - seemingly reminiscent of the silhouette of Batman: ) Here are his observations and comments.
the overall quality level of the phone - compared to the " edge 30 pro" model, a huge leap forward
totally unique and stunning design with wooden back
it is pleasant to work with, it is comfortable to hold in the hand and does not slip, the back is matte and very pleasant to the touch
beautiful display with fine resolution and high brightness
high performance, absolutely smooth operation, lightning fast responses, I didn' t experience any tearing or freezing
unrivaled storage size - you can have your entire data history stored on your phone offline
decent battery and charging speed (125 W charger is already a proper substation)
the base list price is seriously inadequately high
wooden back - after all, it is a natural material, palpable imperfections can be found in an otherwise precisely ground surface, the wooden back is apparently made of thin veneer (probably similar to disposable wooden cutlery from fast food), the knock sounds very hollow
the rounded edges of the display have their disadvantages - sometimes you activate something you don' t want by touching the side of the phone, moreover, some applications can' t work very well with such a display (moving your finger across the display distorts the image)
the phone rests mainly on the lower edge of the edging of the camera lenses, the lenses are large and, unlike earlier models, they are not so embedded in the edging - sooner or later the lenses risk being scratched
125W charging really heats up the phone a lot
! the biggest flaw in the beauty - during manipulation of the phone (especially violent movements, typically turning on the flashlight with a gesture) you can hear a clicking sound (almost like a rattle) from the body of the phone, I don' t know if this is a manufacturing defect or a normal manifestation of the product (perhaps some non-locked lenses or the gyroscope of the optical stabilization in the camera), but once you start to perceive it, it is quite unpleasant and spoils the overall impression.
