I tried it for the first time today on a carpet that hasn't been properly vacuumed in about a week or two.
The broom swept most of the hair off the carpet, lots of crumbs and similar dirt. It's still a chore to get the cat hair out of the carpet, but it's definitely better to work on it for ten minutes with one light broom than twenty minutes with a vacuum cleaner that just doesn't want to do it anymore. And most importantly, I don't have to wash the filter and empty the container after every vacuuming, as it is filled with hair: )
