At 10k at the end of 2025, it's clearly a "best buy". It's one of the fastest drives for Danvici Resolve and I bought a second 4TB for the OS.
10/10 is nothing at all.
The price difference between the Gen4 and Gen5 version is not big, I would recommend buying this Gen5 version, even if you only have the Gen4 M.2 slot right now. A Gen5 capable ssd controller will have a slight advantage for some types of usage even when connected via older Gen4. Plus, it's more future-proof, which is handy because the drive should have a relatively long lifespan.
Compared to the old Samsung 970 evo 1TB, which is Gen 3 NVMe, it's a really big difference in speed.
It does not overheat when used in the Gen 4 slot, even though it is without a heatsink. However, the case is well ventilated - be quiet! PURE BASE 600 Window.
I bought an open box and speeds for r/w were capped at PCIe 3.0 speeds. Tried 3 other slots for PCIe 4.0 and 1 slot for PCIe 5.0, speed was still capped. Other NVME r/w were as stated by the manufacturer. Lesson learnt, never buy open or used NVME drive again. Wasted time playing with the bios when the NVME was the issue
After experience with Kingston drives purchased this NVMe drive supporting already PCIE GEN 5 which on the motherboard I have...I have nothing to add everything boots FACT fast
