The inability to deactivate outside the heating season will be solved manually by setting the control to max. temperature of 30˚C, wait until the damper is fully open, then turn off "Heat available" and disable open window detection. Not tested yet.
The head with M30 reduction fits for example on common Heimeier valves, where the pin height is about 11mm when the valve is closed and about 15mm when it is open. Unfortunately, my valves (supposedly Luxor, which is no longer made) are open at 11mm and closed at 7mm. The plunger head does not have such a range, which I solved with a reduction from a 3D printer, an ordinary 4mm roller with a diameter of 10mm.
Inconspicuous head
Minimalist display that only lights up during interaction and goes out in a few seconds
The display can be rotated 180° by setting
Includes reducers for 4 different valve types
Turning the valve changes the temperature as with a normal head, the step is 0.5˚C
Quiet
The M30 reducer fits my type of valve, but it does not regulate the valve: -(
In Home Assistant it looks like a normal thermostat, but it only has Heat mode, no option to deactivate
The new settings are applied with a longer delay, up to a minute, but that's probably to save batteries, so it doesn't react frantically to every temperature fluctuation
The valve rotation is precise with a lock, but it has too strong a spring or internal teeth, so a quick change of a few steps sounds like I'm hitting the pipe with a cooker
installation easy, initial pairing with the coordinator needed a few tries before it worked. 2 AA power supply, I on rechargeable (I tried both versions from IKEA) lasts several months; only with a charged battery does not report 100%, but this is due to the voltage of the rechargeable battery. Works seamlessly in Home Assistant
Great documentation is available online from the manufacturer including Zigbee clusters
Great support in Zigbee2MQTT and HA
Can be connected to an external temperature sensor
Can distribute heating between multiple radiators if there are multiple Danfoss Ally heads in the room (ideally with native GW)
Quiet operation
Temperature can be regulated by turning as with conventional heads
Detects an open window (temperature drop) and closes the valve temporarily accordingly
Elegant design
Very easy to install on the valve, especially if you are replacing a conventional Danfoss head
Based on two weeks of data, it looks like the battery will last about half a year (but it could well be a combination of non-native GW and battery quality)
