Tamron 150-500mm F/5-6.7 Di III VC VXD, Nikon Z

The Tamron 150-500mm F/5-6.7 Di III VC VXD lens provides not only high image quality, but also high comfort of use. Despite its remarkable focal length of 500 mm, it is very comfortable to use, with a length of just 209.6 mm and a maximum diameter of 93 mm. The first Tamron lens for full-frame cameras with Sony FE-Mount is equipped with VC image stabilization, which allows you to take sharp ultra-telephoto shots hands-free. The optical construction consists of 25 elements in 16 groups, including several special glasses and hybrid aspheres to correct optical aberrations. The lens is designed exclusively for mirrorless cameras and cannot be used with DSLRs.

Key features of the Tamron 150-500mm F/5-6.7 Di III VC VXD

  • Compact dimensions (length 209.6 mm, diameter 93 mm) for easy handling even at high focal lengths
  • VC Image Stabilizer for stable and sharp images without a tripod
  • Optical design with 25 elements in 16 groups to minimize optical aberrations
  • BBAR-G2 surface treatment ensures suppression of glare and contrast loss
  • Suitable for close-up shots thanks to a minimum focusing distance of 0.6 m
  • VXD autofocus for fast, quiet and accurate focusing
  • Suitable for a wide range of photographic genres, including landscape, wildlife and sports

Versatile lens for close-up and dynamic shots

The BBAR-G2's lens coating minimizes reflections inside the lens and suppresses ghosting and lens flare, which are especially common when shooting in backlight. With a focal length of 150mm, the minimum focusing distance is 0.6m, which means the lens is also suitable for impressive close-up shots. In a nutshell: The 150-500mm F/5-6.7 is a very versatile lens that can be used for many subjects - from landscapes to wildlife to sports photography.

Revolutionary autofocus for fast and silent shooting

VXD autofocus is a world premiere: It is the first linear focusing motor developed by Tamron for superior autofocusing. Two VXD modules, which operate in a floating system and are controlled by electronic pulses, provide fast and accurate focusing on near and distant objects. The new motor also ensures improved AF tracking, for example when shooting sports. The autofocus works so quietly that you can shoot even in situations that require complete peace and quiet.

Advanced systems for sharp images and elimination of chromatic aberration

The mechanism helps keep the image sharp when shooting without a tripod or in low light conditions. Like LD, it prevents chromatic aberration and other defects. However, XLD is a much more sophisticated system, which is mostly used in telescopes. Colour defect is a common optical defect, manifesting itself in many ways. We often talk about so-called chromatic aberration, which is more common in wide-angle lenses. LD members are made of special optical glass with extremely low light scattering, which effectively compensates for colour defects, especially noticeable when using telephoto lenses in the extreme position.

Protection against splashing water

The Tamron 150-500mm F/5-6.7 Di III VC VXD lenses have a weatherproof lens hood that optimally protects the sensitive interior from wind and weather. The robust outer shell is effectively sealed against moisture ingress at all critical points (e.g. between the focusing ring and the bayonet connection). This ensures reliable operation even in the harshest outdoor shooting conditions.

Internal focusing

With internal focusing lenses, the length of the lens does not change during focusing and the filter ring does not rotate with it. This makes it easier to handle, especially with longer telephoto lenses, and to shoot with polarizing and graduated filters. Additional advantages include shorter focusing distance over the entire focus area and less light loss at the corners of the image (vignetting) and less focus-related aberrations.

Aspheric lenses

The abbreviation "ASL" (ASpherical Lens) refers to hybrid aspherical lens elements. Corrects typical zoom lens aberrations such as spherical aberrations (sharpness errors). In addition, you can replace several other optical elements, allowing for a more compact design and consistently high image quality.

Advanced protection and optimization for crisp, clear images

The BBAR coating prevents reflection and scattering of light falling on the lens surface. Avoid loss of brightness and contrast and prevent "ghosting". The BBAR coating also contributes to the natural colour rendering. Since 2019, the advanced BBAR G2 coating has been used. The fluoride coating permanently protects the front lens from contamination. Oil and water droplets do not stick to the surface, which is therefore very easy to clean. ZOOM LOCK (zoom lock) allows locking at any focal point.
