I used the drive as a 1TB expansion for my Mac mini- everything works as it should. I moved my entire user account from the original 256 GB internal storage and subjectively I don't see any slowdown - I only store apps, photos and documents on this external SSD. The USB-C to USB-C connection works well and I haven't experienced a single dropped connection. OK solution for me.
The benchmark against the internal drive will of course measure a lower speed, but subjectively I don't notice a difference.
