I replaced liquid metal with this thermal pad, and it works great. The liquid metal from the same brand dries out very quickly and damages the CPU. Unlike thermal paste, PTM keeps safe temperatures in areas where liquid metal is usually applied. This option is definitely better because, in the long run, it doesn’t degrade the CPU.

The application was run on a Gainward Rtx 4080 phantom graphics card core. The goal was to reduce the temperature and the difference between the temperature and the hot spot. The size of the chip in this case is about 15x25mm, so the package should be enough for the eventual application on the cpu, which in my case is 9800x3d. Considering the cpu 420 watermark and the consumption of this cpu when gaming and thus the low temperatures, I don't see the point of applying ptm to the cpu. It did a great job on the gpu, and I've only done about 5 cycles with the fact that ptm properties are supposed to improve over time and this material doesn't suffer from drying out like classic paste, which was the motivation to put ptm on the gpu. Air temperature 24, card consumption during game play 300W, core temperature 69 and hotspot 79 at very low noise. Really great satisfaction! The application requires care, I did not put the pad in the fridge and everything was done with care on the first try.

I have used Asus liquid metal as a replacement on a gaming laptop and a much better experience than their applied metal. Not only does it cool similarly, but I don't have to worry about this leaking and shorting out something on the board.
The application was also not that complicated. Just measure the die dimension and add 2-3mm according to the manufacturer's specification. If you want easier application and also cleaner, put in the fridge for a while in the box the product comes in before application, this will keep the product cooler and make handling easier.
So far it seems great after almost a week, but I'll see how it changes with time and higher temperatures on the CPU.
For newbies, however, it is definitely a better choice than liquid metal and quite possibly even than classic thermal paste.
