I read the negative reviews and was worried about the smell and the fragility of the cap. Neither was confirmed. Immediately after unpacking, I covered the silicone with baking soda and poured boiling water from the kettle. There is no trace of odour, a perfectly satisfactory and simple solution. The cap serves well, we have been using for a month now repeatedly every day. We have purchased several more pieces for the family and they are all great and we are happy with them.
