Seasonic power supplies have never let me down and when I was forced to upgrade due to a GPU (RX 9070XT), I reached for this brand again. I'm not saying this as marketing bullshit, I've replaced 2x (and now a 3rd ) Seasonic power supplies in my PC over twelve years that have survived both mistreatment and unsuitable conditions (air supply/heat/dust). These power supplies are still going, never had a problem with them and tightened everything (at that time oversized by 100/150W).
Out of the box, the power supply does have a somewhat stronger smell (who remembers the old black plastic CD/DVD boxes from PC games - exactly this one), but it does not spread from the box after switching on and I personally do not mind.
The cables are more flexible from the previous power supply, too much, they unravel and it doesn't feel as uniform and quality as the cables connected in one unit in the middle of the previous model.
The power supply has a hybrid mode option - I turned it off.
My PC is placed on a table in a slightly soundproof box. The power supply is on the bottom of the case, the air intake and exhaust is outside the motherboard area and even so the power supply is almost inaudible. I don't notice any squeaking or clicking when I run.
The first time I turned the switch (of the box) off, the sound of a spark skipping followed, but hasn't occurred since - more of a momentary glitch on my box.
After shutting down, there is a quiet click that seems to subside with more on/off cycles - again, I don't mind this, it reassures me that the PC is really off.
It's worse with the price, where the alternative is the Core variant - I wouldn't worry about that one either, for building a PC on a limited budget the minimum price of the Core 850W is comparable to the Focus 750W (end of 2025).
The power supply also doesn't have the extra connectors for CPU power that some older boards (sock.1150) may require, although the manufacturer marks them on the front with CPU/PCIe - here I guess I'll have to check with the manufacturer.
For newer boards I am not worried about incompatibility, on the contrary, I hope that this power supply will work despite the next generation jump of the board, CPU and RAM in the PC.
Smaller but more powerful than the previous power supply (Seasonic 620W)
Unfortunately the noise level compared to the previous seasonic power supply which after exactly 10 years went away but luckily it has a hybrid mode which can turn off the fan when the power supply is not under load.
Furt is seasonic(Gold, nice cables, compact, 3.1, 10 years warranty)
I bought the power supply thinking that it would be better than the previous GX 3.0, the opposite is true, the fan of the power supply when switched on, it drowned out the whole assembly, maybe a bad piece, in the end I returned and bought an older 3.0, the silence is great: )
price, for 3,5 you can buy better
