I mainly use my PC for editing in 4K 60p, and the odd game now and then. The RX 9060 XT has replaced the ageing RX 580 – once again from Sapphire – in the Nitro+ series. Nitro+ is the top-of-the-range series featuring the best components and oversized cooling, and this RX 9060 XT 16G Nitro+ was certainly no exception. On the contrary, Sapphire has gone one step further, and I’d say Nitro+ is now the best on the market. I’ve set the fan controls to run at 100% as soon as the temperature reaches 60°C, and I haven’t yet managed to get the GPU down to 40°C. After playing for a few tens of minutes at maximum detail settings, with the 3D engine running at 100%, it reached 36–38°C. The trick is to direct all the air drawn into the case via the deflector straight under the graphics card. It then blows the air upwards, cooling the DIMM and VRM, whilst the CPU water block blows the air upwards and out of the case. When I upgraded my graphics card, I was already planning to replace my old Seasonic 620W. However, according to the measurements, the PC draws the same amount of power at idle, and under load (playing games on ultra settings versus high settings on the RX580), the system consumes 100W less. That really blew me away – the AMD 4nm process and RDNA 4.0 really make a difference. PC: Seasonic S12 II 620W, Ryzen 9 5900X (+ 240mm water cooler, approx. 180W), MSI X470 Gaming Plus, 128GB DDR4-3200, 2x SSDs, 3x HDDs, DVD+-RW, Creative sound card, Realtek GbE, SD card reader + 6x USB ports.
The Sapphire Nitro+ is the best in the world of AMD GPUs
There’s no coil whine at all; the fans are extremely quiet (I can hear the water pump and the WD Gold HDD more clearly)
Half of the airflow passes straight through (without resistance)
I couldn't get her temperature above 38°C
16GB of GDDR6 will also be suitable for the future
100W lower power consumption compared to the RX 580
The stated fuel consumption is overestimated; the car actually uses less
The card has optimal airflow for cooling the DIMMs and VRM on the motherboard
A truly brilliant graphics card for Full HD and up to 1440p gaming
Generally speaking, Vegas software has issues with AMD hardware acceleration, but, paradoxically, it works better on AMD than on nVidia
Vegas can’t load H.265 properly into AMD VCN 4.0 when it latches onto a keyframe, and haphazardly calculates the rest (the playback stutters)
The card is incredibly bulky, so I decided to replace the supplied bracket with a piece of bent sheet metal to act as a stand
A slightly more limited range of connectors
Just one PCIe power connector, but that’s probably enough
Some games developed for nVidia are unable to handle advanced physics or in-memory textures correctly. But that's classic.
I don’t know what to do with my poor old RX580 at the moment. As it was also Nitro+, there’s essentially no silicon degradation; it never exceeded 65°C
Nobody believes me when I say my GPU doesn’t go above 38°C when I’m gaming on ultra settings
Windows tends to overwrite GPU drivers during updates; if the AMD Adrenalin software isn’t working for you, you’ll need to disable this (there are guides online).
I ordered the first piece as "unpacked" and it arrived defective. Claim acknowledged immediately and I had a new piece home within 4 working days of sending the faulty gpu back.
great performance for QHD gaming
super price
low temperatures at max. load
perfect cooling as always from sapphire nitro +
with framegen in warzone 80-90fps increase and thanks to radeon anti lag unrecognizable response degradation
bonus argb backlight synchronizable with other argb in pc
for the decision to build a PC as a shift from gaming to ps5, this gpu was the best choice in terms of price/performance and the difference from ps5 is damn noticeable
too bad it's not white, it would look even better in my pc
