I was forced to buy the phone after the sudden death of my Zenfon 5Z, which I had been using for 4 years and was perfectly happy with. I was looking for a phone that wouldn't force me to buy a new one after a year of use and at the same time wouldn't create too much wind in my wallet.
Despite my skeptical opinion, Samsung surprised me quite pleasantly. 5G wasn't my main goal, but in hindsight I have to say it's really a step forward. The absolute top is the display. 120 Hz Super Amoled is just the absolute top of the range. I can't imagine having to downgrade to 60Hz IPS. Related to this is the fluidity of the One UI, which is sufficient even after the update to the A12. I was very pleasantly surprised at how much Samsung's SW has progressed from my previous experience with the S5. The Bixby button is quite useful and I got used to it very quickly. 2 years of support and 3 years of security patches is great news, which tells me that the phone was created as a first-party affair.
What, however, brings the display down is the integrated fingerprint reader. Compared to the classic ones, it is rather unreliable, slow and forces you to rely on a combination of front camera and PIN unlocking.
The big surprise is the presence of a 3.5 mm Jack. The very high quality output of flac and 24MQA files in the headphones directly encourages all audiophiles to expand the memory with an SD card.
The big disappointment is the 15W adapter in the package and the associated price of the official accessory for this phone. From the 25W adapter to the Samsung cover you pay 1/5 of the price of the phone and that's pretty exorbitant in my opinion. On the other hand, given the price of the phone, this is understandable. You won't find wireless charging here, but that's a minus that the average user won't mind.
What you won't miss is NFC, BT 5.0 and WiFi 6 support and water resistance, which is absolutely unusual for this price category of phone and definitely appreciated.
The Samsung Galaxy A51 5G is probably the best phone under 10k at the moment, if you buy it on sale even in February. Basically, you buy a phone that will last you another 2 years (maybe even longer) and makes almost no compromises in this price range. The CPU is powerful enough, 120Hz Super Amoled, 3.5mm Jack and waterproof. Upgrades to the A12 and a smooth environment including a great camera in the price range. The minuses are found only in the details.
