If you have a screen that supports more than 60Hz and a DP 1.3+ port, it is better to use DP than HDMI. With this cable, my ASRock PG32QF2B monitor allowed me to go above the manufacturer-defined 8-bit color depth of ten at the current 165Hz. This may also be true for other screens where the manufacturer leaves a margin in the specification due to older HDMI and does not advertise the full range of possible colour depth.

DP is definitely preferable for devices with more Hz than 60
I had hdmi I had on it although 180hz but the picture was not pcitove this smooth so I tried to buy dp cable and the picture is much nicer quality and has less input lag: D
