I was looking for a device that had CD not as a slot but an ejectable tray, that had at least equalizer presets, better even manual adjustment of corrections, that had DAB and FM and USB and the ability to mp3 from CD as well, FLAC was like not quite an imperative but a very big plus.
What I picked out turned out to be something under the tree that I definitely wouldn't have bought if I'd known what it couldn't do, or only half-does.
For example, the frequency response correction is given as plus or minus 4. At first I thought that Panasonic just didn't want to be too technical and so didn't put a unit after the 4 and that in fact they were just rescaling the normal +-10dB correction range into the anonymously marked +-4 range. But in reality it's not even +-4dB! The effect of corrections is minimal, barely noticeable, as is the effect of fixed preset options on EQ.
But the fact that it has neither balances nor hidden in the electronic setup is something that I simply would not even think how it is possible to brush off common functions even with such a slightly more expensive device.
Well, I'd forgive the archaic few digital segment display scrolling information because of the small number of digital segments, a technology from the 1990s, but that a person with inferior sensitivity in one ear can't align the center of the stereo on headphones using balloons I already see as a disqualifying fact. Overall, for relatively a lot of money little use.
has manual treble and bass correction
has preset EQ modes
It has a DAB radio
Despite the not very good treble and bass corrections and weak EQ, the reproduction is quite decent for the original boxes in this category, I didn't expect miracles from the limited volume of the boxes, but for this class of devices listening on lower power sounds quite good. Of course, I missed listening on higher power, but even the manufacturer itself indicates very high distortion on full power - see minus points Another huge minus it has - see the 4th point in the minuses
It has a FLAC license
A layman may find the instrument acceptable if he does not know what HiFi reproduction should sound like and does not operate the instrument at higher power levels where the instrument already has distortion outside the HiFi class.
Manual treble and bass corrections have woefully little effect
Preset EQ modes have only a very weak effect on the frequency response
DAB radio has a small sensitivity, Comparison: the radio for 9 hundred has an indicated full signal with the rod retracted, while this one for 8 thousand even with the external dipole is not much and the signal quality is indicated as poor, but the radio still works.
The device has no Ballance option at all
A display that matches 1990s technology is sometimes hard to read. Devices for a tenth of the price nowadays have a standard graphic display capable of displaying an album cover, here sometimes you can't tell what it actually says until the second or third pass of scrolling characters on the archaic segment display.
Automatic scan always overwrites already set presets, cheap 800kč device can build a list of stations without overwriting presets
The price does not correspond to the functionality and parameters.
The specification (manual, page 14) indicates a max distortion of 10 percent THD at max. RMS power, which is quite a lot, I'm used to being well below one percent with HiFi. I know this is not a tower component where this parameter is in the hundredths of a percent range, but TEN percent is basically a number that disqualifies the unit from the HiFi class !
A device with a THD of 10% cannot be considered a HiFi device in any way, as the kind reader can learn from AI.
This device is in the HiFi category completely unjustifiably.
Probably because of the not-so-HiFi distortion, the manufacturer adds such thin cheap wires to the speakers that something like this shouldn't happen in the HiFi category. On the one hand, they use high quality screw clamps on the body of the device (and not some cheap clips), but then they degrade it with a cable that someone else here has also already reacted to as completely inadequate cross-section. Using a properly purchased cable is the solution. However, with THD of 10%, I guess it really doesn't matter. It's not really a high THD HiFi device, so what.

Beautiful design, great beautifully readable display with large readouts, excellent sound including bass, fine for "normal" use in the apartment.
strong tuner and DAB
quiet CD drive
everything works perfectly
antenna (wired) included
very short wires (approx. 1 m) between the unit and the speaker. What's more, they are terribly thin, such "mule legs" that immediately break when you hit them. But I guess that's enough according to the manufacturer. Fortunately, they are detachable, so I immediately bought a pack of cables longer and with a larger cross section.
