NVIDIA RTX PRO 5000 48GB tested with the Minisforum AI X1 Pro (AMD Strix Point) via the DEG2 eGPU dock (PCIe x4), Ubuntu 26.04. Hard reset under load when using a USB4 / TB5 link (start ollama / llama. cpp / lmstudia runs, model load hard reset – no information in the logs). The logs show communication issues with the card and a fallback to PCIe x1. Switching to OcuLink between the Minisforum and the RTX resolves all the issues; the card is connected natively to the bus (not via a hub) and communicates without any problems – it’s incredibly stable. Btw. The NVidia DGX Spark achieves ~60 tokens/sec on the same Qwen3.6-35B-A3B model, compared with this card’s 220 tokens/sec. The same goes for Strix Halo (Vulkan stack; ROCm is slower). This card is therefore at least... 3 times faster – if you’ve got a PC or an eGPU slot, it’s better value for money, in my humble opinion.
