Switching from the RTX 3090 ( 51k in early 2020 ) to the 5090 was perfectly OK obgenerationally.

core temperatures at 100% load ( after undervolt ) up to 60°C - gaming up to 55°C - typically in win up to 35°C ( IDLE up to 30°C ) - cooling curve adjustment
memory temperatures up to 71°C under load ( cooling curve adjustment )
Core clock stable at 0.9V - 2.920 MHz from original 2.497 MHz
GDDR7 clock 30.000 MHz effective (+ 2.000 MHz )
after undervolt, peak wattage 460W (CP 2077) from original 585W ( typically gaming around 350W )
ok piece with 176 ROPs
Slightly higher performance with much lower power consumption after OC and undervolt
with 9800X3D (undervolt 1.13V - 5.425 MHz ) a good combo for gaming.
On the Asus Crosshair X870E HERO board absolutely stable
No problems on all drivers from February 2025
in the case - hangar - Cooler Master HAF 700 berserker is a relatively small card: D
good cooling from MSI ( no need for AIO version due to temperatures )
Hotspot temperature sensor is missing ( bad boy who invented this in nVidia ) - what the eyes can't see - the undervolt makes sure.
