With prolonged use, your thumb will start to ache in the same way that your fingers start to stiffen with prolonged mouse use. However, this is not a defect of the product, but only the fatigue of the human material: o) The transition from mouse to trackball was quick and seamless, you get used to it really fast (a day or two). And switching back and forth between trackball and mouse is not problematic either. What I'm missing a bit is hyperscroll, like on the Logitech Master 3S mouse. But I'm deliberately not writing that among the negatives, because I went into the trackball knowing it didn't have one. Otherwise, overall great satisfaction.
