After a negative experience with several cheap no-name airers and one “branded” Vileda, I bought what is probably the best brand on the market. I'm satisfied after 5 months. The airer stands stably, BUT: I use it either at home or on the balcony, so on solid, flat floors where it's not too windy and the wind doesn't catch the laundry. It probably wouldn't be as stable on the lawn in the garden. But I guess none of them are. I also don't load it with a ton of poorly spun laundry, which is why the hinges haven't twisted or cracked yet (and I should hope not, after only 5 months!). And I've allowed myself a minor tweak - I've attached two Velcro straps to the top frame to keep the legs closed when handling the folded airer. Without these straps, one leg and the small side wing tend to keep opening, which is infuriating. So, I fold it, strap it up, and stick it behind the wardrobe. All this with a mighty rattling and clanking of the thin rods. But every airer “plays” like this.
