I tested this in detail (including all possible setup combinations) a few months ago, I doubt new upgrades would fix it. When you have an Apple Watch on your wrist, you'll get a text message on it, but the audio signal on the watch is completely inadequate (and so is the vibration in many situations), and there's no audio signal on the iPhone. When the Apple Watch is in the charger, the iPhone behaves normally (without any setup changes) (i.e. you can set the sound of an incoming SMS to be clearly audible). The sound of standard alarms (adjustable on the watch or phone) is perfectly adequate even on the Apple Watch. Programmatically, it would certainly not be a problem to assign alarm "behaviour" to certain mobile numbers. But it took 3 years to fix the previous bug I pointed out to Apple (when writing tel. numbers for Slovakia the system added a slash in the middle) so I do not count on this "bug" being fixed in the foreseeable geological time. But they've come up with a lot of wonderful emojis in those 3 years: -)
