Even older media spins up at full speed, so reading is fast (faster than my older drive from 2010). It's great that the cable is detachable. Unfortunately, the connector is only a mini-usb, which is practically not used anymore. But that's just a small thing. My bigger warning is the quality of workmanship, where the ejector rails are not metal, but plastic. The whole drawer looks very "forum-like" when it is pulled out.
