I chose from among Bose Sound link Max, Bose and cheaper models, JBL charge 5, Ultimate ears Boom, Sony various, Denon, Beats Pill, Phillips, HK Onyx7 + Citation 200 and others.
The first contact with Onyx was on vacation where they had 7cku in the apartment. Practical and nice design and a little bit bassy sound, which I leveled in the EQ Spotify, or with Apple music EQ preset "less bass". The rest of the band was fine and the sound was full, built and pleasant. necrical, it had a good colour rendering, i.e. it did not sound artificial, plastic.
After analysis and tests I came to the choice of Onyx 8 for the following reasons: - 120mm bass with a proper magnet and passive coils are the basis of the bass you can't get anywhere from the mentioned speakers, there are smaller coils everywhere and physics is hard to fool
- 2x bass transducer, plays stereo unlike most other BT speakers
- compared to the Onyx 7, it has microphones that also serve for acoustic calibration, which helps it to be less prone to misplacement and rumble on the bass
- compared to the Onyx 7 has an easily replaceable battery, after removing the front cover it can be replaced and it is not necessary to bag the whole device (the battery on them does not last long is small)
- compared to the onyx 7 has a newer bluetooth 5.3 and LE audio codec (in the disadvantages is a weakness)
- compared to the onyx 7 has a slightly re-tuned sound signature and has more energy in the upper mids which is good for wind instruments and vocals, while still having a balanced presentation without worrying about aggression, new generation speakers, even the bass is a little different than in the 7
- Bose Sound Link Max is too expensive, otherwise I would prefer it to Onyx 8 Onyx needs at least 20hours to play on the bass (as every speaker), I recommend not to be disappointed right out of the box and give it time and a good run, the bass will be more accurate 🙂 In the disadvantages I will describe what I do not like about it.

Just like today's mainstream sound for deaf people, the bass has a bit of an added hump at 60Hz, so it's overbassed for my taste, you can work with it with EQ, it only stands out on songs that have a lot of content at 60Hz. and everybody tunes it this way, including JBL
It has no degree of protection against water, from what I observed, some sprinkling is not to be feared, but it is not a pool speaker
It's bigger and heavier, but it's a piece of sound, it's easy to hold and carry and fits in a travel bag and in the trunk of a car, so solid sound wherever there's chill for a long time: -)
