I didn’t have much faith in battery testers that don’t have their own power source, but I was pleasantly surprised. Compared with my long-standing Voltcraft MS-229, which is no longer available, it only deviates slightly. 1.5V batteries by 0.03V and 3V batteries by 0.1V. So, I’m completely satisfied with the overall condition of the batteries.

I carry it in my car; there’s no risk of it overheating as it doesn’t have a power source.
It really would be useful to have some sort of groove when inserting the batteries, so that they stay in place when you close the moving end (AAA and LR44 batteries simply tend to slip out of the contact area). And yet, something as daft as modifying the mould to mould a groove into the clearance for movement, so that the battery remains centred when the lid is closed, simply didn’t occur to someone during the design phase.

For example. when I pick the flashlight up off the table/shelf, it's typically in my hand plus up, and I always have to turn it to this gauge.
