After much deliberation, I chose this microsystem as the basis of my home Hi-Fi setup and I have to say that after unpacking and the first few weeks of use, I am delighted.
Design and workmanship: At first glance, the top-quality workmanship catches the eye. The design is clean, elegant and the device looks very valuable in the interior. The touch-sensitive top panel and clear, informative display with backlight control make operation a pleasure.
Features and connectivity: This device is literally loaded with technology. For me, the key was the combination:
- High-end DAC: The sound is detailed and clear.
- HDMI ARC: The connection to the TV works flawlessly, the system turns on and off with the TV.
- Connectivity: Support for everything from classic FM and DAB+ radio to CD drives and modern streaming services like Spotify, Tidal and Deezer.
- Bonuses: The ability to connect a subwoofer and a quality Bluetooth transmitter that feeds even my Sony wireless headphones without any problems.
HEOS vs. Sonos: While the Denon runs on HEOS (which I use primarily for firmware updates), as a long-time Sonos user, I appreciate how well the Denon works with Sonos Port. This allowed me to integrate this "adult" Hi-Fi system into my existing multiroom.
Sound potential: I'm still testing with the older Marantz three-way speakers, but there's already huge potential. I am currently waiting for the delivery of the speakers, which should take the listening experience to a whole new level.
What I regret (shortcomings): The only freckle on the beauty is the situation around the Czech documentation. The package contains the original English manual and the seller has included a printed Czech version (several A4 sheets printed by himself), but the official electronic version of the manual in Czech (PDF) is basically unavailable. It is a pity that the manufacturer or vendor does not offer a quality PDF download, which would make it easier to navigate so many advanced features.
Verdict: If you're looking for a compact unit that combines honest Hi-Fi with state-of-the-art technology, the Denon RCD-N12 is a hit. Despite the lack of a digital manual in Czech, I definitely don't regret buying it.

Denon RCD-N12 does it all, sat. I have CryptoBox 650D receiver with Samsung TV connected via hdmi ARC, Samsung TV with Denon RCD-N12 is connected by optical cable- everything is switched on simultaneously with one remote control- satellite receiver. The advantage is the dimmable display - 100- 0% brightness, detailed and understandable manual in Czech. Another plus is the clear HEOS app, again in Czech, for mobile control, where everything is nicely at hand, including the equalizer. When streaming, Denon AirPlay2 is compatible with other AirPlay2-enabled speakers, in my case the Ikea Symfonisk. In the HEOS application, it is possible to select the simultaneous connection of Deon with Ikea Symf., to disp. there are sliders for adjusting the volume of each speaker/ sort of like the balance in stereo/ and naturally also a slider for the final volume. In the HEOS app, you can choose to have all the speakers active or turn one off. And the most important thing in the end- the sound is great with the Demand 9 speakers and in combination with the Ikea Symf. /I have only one/ even better., subwoofer is not necessary, although the input is to disp., at least according to my taste... of course it also depends on the size of the sound space. etc. The HEOS app supports not only Spotify connect but also Tidal connect and more, it's in Czech!, and it's easy to get used to...Energ. power consumption - standby power is 0.4W, I measured 0.2W / probably the accuracy of a Chinese wattmeter /. The stated wattage is 55W, I measured 12W! ...?, so I don't know, I'm a complete electrical layman...I hope the wattmeter is ok- to check, I measured 76W at the TV, that's ok.
