Except for the manufacturer's flub with the controller, it's a great player that I recommend to everyone. It has great sound thanks to a powerful 192 kHz / 32 bit DAC, quiet operation and a nice appearance. Its predecessor, the DCD 735, served faithfully for 15-17 years before the lens started to come off and start "skipping", so I believe this one will be just as reliable.

It can be operated with the remote control from the DCD 735 model, which also has a CD eject function on it and which is a reasonable size considering the functions needed to operate the player.
The supplied controller is utterly pointless with the options it could control if the player had them. I'm guessing it's a universal controller from some media center, receiver, etc. that comes as a one-size-fits-all, and in the case of a CD player, contains many controls without function. It is therefore also unnecessarily large.
