What a piece of shit. Definitely don't buy it because it has an aluminum case - the inner drawer is all plastic and the drive has no contact with the case - the heatsink. I didn't even put the plastic drawer in the housing for this reason.
Aluminum body, not that a 2.5'' SSD wouldn't last but it's more secure
Price
Somewhat deceptive marketing. Because the body is aluminum and one of the attached pictures carries EFFICIENT COOLING. eeeh, the disk sits in a plastic slot which is then inserted into the aluminum body, nowhere is there contact between the disk itself and the aluminum body, so I would be kind of interested in how this cooling occurs. Again, a lot of Chinese slop marketing. A SATA SSD doesn't need cooling, (at most somewhere in a tropical climate/summer) but still if it's a listed product feature, it should be there.
Just to add, I tried calling this command in Powershell: " Get-PhysicalDisk | Select FriendlyName, MediaType " and it returns unspecified for this frame and Windows offers me defragmentation when optimizing disks even with an SSD inserted. However, you can work around this and manually call TRIM in Powershell via command: Optimize-Volume -DriveLetter -ReTrim -Verbose I can live with that and for me for the price a great external box with a minor quibble.
For its price it looks solid, screws hold the disc firmly in the frame and it does not travel in it (especially good for HDDs)
USB-C connector, finally a 2.5" bezel without that ugly micro-USB type B 3.0 connector: )
I can squeeze out 450 - 500 MB/s on a Micron 5300 Pro server SSD: )
SATA <> USB bridge does not transmit information about the type of disk (HDD vs SSD), Windows may then try to defragment the HDD
It works, it doesn't heat up, the disc holds in the case like nailed and doesn't "rattle". Excellent case!
Finally a normal USB-C instead of the "two-part" USB
The disc is fixed in the case with four screws
