I was really worried that ANC wouldn’t work in these earphones, but it does. You have to give Apple credit here for having technically cracked a real nut. ANC isn’t perfect, but it’s good enough to block out the noise of buses, the Underground or the hum of traffic. The transparency mode is brilliant too. Gesture control is great, but compared to, say, Xiamo headphones, the pressure sensor and multi-click controls are a downside for me. I just can’t seem to work out how not to knock the earpiece out whilst doing that. For example, when you’re doing sport, under a headband, etc. I’d actually prefer gesture control. Fortunately, Siri responds quite well to commands, so that’s good. Otherwise, the sound is brilliant; Atmos on selected tracks is a nice bonus, and the battery life is very decent. Of course, pairing with an Apple device is almost essential. They work with Android too, but you really do want them for those features.
