1/ Kindle Colorsoft displays colors at the quality of cheaper color printing, but I still consider it a nice change. 2/ What about font contrast? I'm a technician, so I took measurements. My 10 year old Kindle Voyager was about 1:10, while Kindle Colorsoft was about 1:7. But the lower value doesn't matter. A regular paperback book is 1:5, close to the recommended value. Too much contrast in the font tires the eyes.
3/ The sharpness of the font is great. Here I would like to clarify that the Kindle Colosoft does not have the option to choose only black and white display, it always shows colors. If you have a black letter and a colour letter side by side on the same page, the black letter has a resolution of 300 ppi, while the colour letter has a resolution of 150 ppi because it is made up of four pixels. Well, I'm not sure. The initial setup was terrible. It wouldn't link to my Amazon account and won't let you go any further without it. The only way I solved it was by opening a new account with Amazon. I did everything right, so it's a bug in the reader or Amazon. Another thing - I bought Colorsoft for the colors, of course - but my book covers don't show up - so useless. Uploading books is also terrible - I use calibre and it takes forever to load the books, even though they are there in memory. It also told me several times that I had lost access to a book I had downloaded (which I have had on my PC for years). I need to figure it out somehow, and if I can't, it's pretty much a disaster - I was going to solve it by turning off the wifi, but without that, the book won't show up either. I'm actually disappointed, it's not what I expected.
Colorsoft jsem musel bohužel vrátit. Ve spodní části displeje měl sytě žlutý pruh a to je u zařízení za takovou cenu neakceptovatelné. Vrátil bych ho ale stejně. Barevný e-ink bohužel zatím není nic moc. Displej je velmi tmavý a většinou jsem musel mít osvětlení zapnuté na maximum. Díky tomu baterie doslova ubývala před očima. Výdrž cca týden by byl zázrak. Barevný e-ink taky znamená, že přes černobílý displej je položená další vrstva s barevným filtrem. Písmo je kvůli tomu neostré a málo kontrastní. Je to jako by člověk četl v brýlích, které by potřebovaly být tak o půl dioptrie silnější. A protože čtení je na Kindlu to hlavní, tyhle mínusy za barevný displej zkrátka nestojí. V neposlední řadě je Colorsoft také výrazně pomalejší než nový Paperwhite. Měl jsem je doma oba zároveň a Colorsoft je tak o 50 % pomalejší. Pozitivně hodnotím jen to, že zadní strana čtečky už není pogumovaná a že s novým firmwarem můžete dvakrát klepnout kdekoliv (bok, záda) a Kindle otočí stránku. Vzhledem k stále větší velikosti Kindlů a absenci tlačítek pro otáčení stran je to při používání jednou rukou super. Colorsoft ale celkově nemůžu doporučit. Paperwhite Signature Edition je pořád jednoznačně lepší volba. Snad za pár let se barevný e-ink podaří dotáhnout.
