Games with HDR complete cool atmosphere e.g. Le Mans Ultimate
In Escape from Tarkov flashing in the menu as the panel refreshes, not in the game anymore, it can be set to minimum (dark environment in the menu ). You can get used to it
I waited two months of daily use to be more objective with my review. I still have the original AW3418DW I switched from, which has IPS with a matte finish. So the first thing that dazzled me was the glossy screen with antireflective (crystal contrast and colors - compared to matte), I was afraid of reflections, but the antireflective treatment works very well, plus OLED wants a controlled lighting environment anyway to bring out the colors and contrast.
(I still use a 55" OLED 4K TV -gloss without antireflex, but this monitor is noticeably further away in image quality) Another thing that surprised me incredibly was the image speed, comparing it with the other monitor 27" 240Hz QHD IPS and even with the tested 24" 360Hz FHD IPS.
- The combination of 240Hz refresh rate, OLED and a high quality fast display gives competitive FPS and racing games a whole new dimension, everything is still crystal sharp even in the biggest action scenes. I was also concerned about the anti-burn protection, but fortunately it is "silent", meaning that when the monitor is used for more than some 4h, it just sets itself to do a refresh when switched off, not like some other monitors and signs that print a message on the monitor "that refresh is needed! " and annoy users, many times at the most inopportune times! The screen refresh after switching off lasts about 10min, it is shown by the "green backlight" of the power button, after it is finished the button switches to white backlight, which slowly fades and lights up. I would also mention that the backlit logo on the back can be turned off, as well as the power button. The joystick control at the bottom centre is nice, quick and easy to get used to. The only thing that the monitor lacks is speakers and a headphone jack, which might bother some people, I bought it thinking that I don't need these things on the monitor. Overall, I can only recommend this monitor, I have been putting off buying it because I thought it wasn't worth it and the benefit would be minimal, but I was extremely pleased and surprised.
240Hz OLED colour, speed, contrast and quality
Glossy surface with anti-reflective coating
UWQHD resolution is the ideal balance of quality and computer performance
UWQHD versus QHD - noticeably better view for FPS and racing games
Strong backlight, I only use 42 out of 100
"silent refresh" - see my summary
The minimum deflection is absolutely sufficient for me and it is not disturbing
Very average colour rendition. I can say that I had a g9 odyssey before (my kids broke it) and honestly I will buy it again. I'd rather pay 6k for a Samsung than this.
Super image - brightness, contrast, saturation - even with a glossy surface
Lots of settings - even with SW. So there is no need to set everything with the joystick in the OSD monitor
Handy USB-hub (USB-A + USB-C)
G-sync compatibility
G-sync compatibility - does more harm than good in many cases, but can be turned off: -)
