The Pentax KP is paired with a new generation of APS-C CMOS sensor with a PRIME IV image processor. This significantly increased the upper range of sensitivity without generating noise. With maximum ISO sensitivity of 819,200 (standard output sensitivity) and 14-bit data processing, it shoots with rich gradation of images, remarkably reproduces the texture of the subject, and delivers life-like photos with even greater sensitivity. The high resolution supports the design of the sensor without an optical AA filter. However, if you need to suppress moiré and fake colours, you can simulate it with a vibration reduction mechanism.

Even More Data Extraction from the Sensor

Impressive pixel technology can capture four images of the same scene using a stabiliser, by shifting the image sensor for a single pixel for each image, then compilling them into a single perfect shot. Given that the data of all colours is cotained in each pixel, the composite image looks much more realistic than what you can get by common photographic techniques. Reproduced colours are more vivid, without false shades.

Built-in Support

The PENTAX KP is equipped with an innovative 5-axis SR II (Shake Reduction II) feeder sensor. In addition to normal vibration, this mechanism also compensates for horizontal and vertical displacements. Thanks to a broad compensation range of up to five shutter speeds, the stabiliser can be used with a wide range of applications, such as telephoto or when shooting in poorly illuminated locations. You will always capture crisp images without blur.
