Subject detection even when focusing manually
With the high performance of EXPEED 7 and deep learning technology, this FX-format mirrorless camera delivers a superior manual focus assistant: object detection. If you activate subject detection when shooting in Manual Focus (MF) mode, the Z f detects the subject and automatically places the focusing field on it. This is a real time saver when taking portraits of people, animals or birds, as you can rely on the camera to place the focusing field on the subject's face or eye. This leaves you to focus on the composition of the image. Subject detection in manual focus mode works when shooting using both the viewfinder and monitor. Tilt and swivel monitor
The first tilt-and-turn touchscreen monitor in a Nikon Z FX format camera makes it easy to shoot from any angle while maintaining a clear view of the entire image field. Plus, there's a brand new way to assign shooting functions with Fn touch. Fn by touch allows you to assign key controls to nine customisable areas of the bright, high-resolution touchscreen monitor. Comfortable video playback
The Nikon Z f allows you to play videos directly on the flip-up display, along with extensive content management and preview options. There's single image and preview playback (4, 9 or 72 images), slideshow and video playback, histogram display and peak brightness indication for exposure control. There's also image cutout zooming with cropping, automatic image rotation, image rating, saving consecutive patches, and motion blending. Long sequences, versatile compression and automatic setting control when shooting in S mode
You can record up to 125 minutes of footage without editing the scene. Recording is available in 8-bit or 10-bit H.265/HEVC format, SDR mode, and HLG and N-LOG modes. The Z f supports full adjustment of settings in aperture auto mode. ISO sensitivity and aperture are automatically adjusted, making it ideal for filming in changing light.
Eye focus, portrait and AUTO mode
The Z f is also capable of focusing the eyes of people animals and birds and keeping them in focus while shooting and recording video. Even when the eyes are covered by hair or glasses or even when the subject is turned upside down. When shooting portraits, easily adjust colour tone and brightness, soften skin while preserving sharpness in eyes and hair, or achieve richer shades and avoid loss of highlights. Z f's deep learning technology detects the situation when shooting in AUTO mode and adjusts key camera settings to get the perfect shot. All you have to do is create a composition of the image.
Mechanical controls and touchscreen monitor
Rotate the Z f's top dials with comfortable and precisely defined stops to adjust ISO sensitivity, shutter speed and exposure correction. If you prefer to shoot using the monitor, you can lock the dials on the top of the Z f and adjust ISO, aperture and exposure using the menu. The camera is equipped with an 8cm (3.2˝) tilt and swivel TFT LCD touchscreen monitor,which offers convenient control for shooting and shooting from different angles. The monitor has a resolution of approximately 2,100,000 pixels, displays approximately 100% of the image field and provides a wide viewing angle of 170°, allowing comfortable composing even when shooting overhead or near the ground. There's colour balance for true-to-life scene reproduction and 15 levels of manual brightness adjustment, so you can adjust the brightness of the display to suit the current lighting conditions.
Rugged, all-terrain ready body and two memory card slots
The black finish of the precision-milled brass mechanical controls will acquire an attractive patina over time. The more you use your Z f camera, the more individual it will become. The camera has a powerful weather sealing that prevents the ingress of dust, dirt and moisture. The front and upper parts of the camera body are made of extremely lightweight and highly durable magnesium alloy. The bumps and knocks of everyday use are no problem for it. The double electrical conductive layer on the image sensor creates a magnetic field that actively repels dust. While the fluorine coating makes it easier to clean the image sensor by wiping. The slim body still has room for two memory card slots - one SD card and one microSD. This gives you the choice to take photos and store data.

The refocusing speed is proportional to the rotation speed of the ring, allowing optimum control over precise focusing.

The very quiet stepper motor allows for almost inaudible autofocusing. The zoom is also quiet, and thanks to the noiseless command ring, you'll be able to adjust the aperture without any clicking. The combined focusing system of the lens enables incredibly smooth and precise refocusing. Focal length changes during focusing and focus changes during zooming are minimized.

Personally, I have to say that I'm really impressed with the Nikon Z f because it's a camera that's just beautiful and its retro design is really successful. What's more, it's also practical and the body itself is robust and durable, so it can withstand even sharper deployments on the road without any problems. The control wheels are also made of brass, so it's likely that over time, the machine will get that right, literally a magical patina, that many of us remember from its cinematic predecessor, which was his design template. But the camera is not just about design, it's all about the quality of the photos, and in this case, it's truly top-notch in every way. I am convinced that the world's leading laboratories, after a detailed evaluation, will rank the Nikon Z f among the absolute best in its class on the market today. But even that's not all, the Nikon Z f is also equipped with a plethora of the latest and most advanced features and equipment - most notably the extremely effective on-chip stabilisation or the perfect autofocus system. Last but not least, I have to mention the wide range of accessories, especially lenses, whose overall quality is also among the TOP on the market. However, nothing is perfect, and the Nikon Z f has, in my opinion, basically one imperfection, but for some people it is quite crucial - and that is the poor grip for the right hand. Although there is a small protrusion on the front for fingers, but it is unfortunately insufficient and you can simply forget about manipulation or shooting with one hand.
