The Eaton EBM 9E 72V tower external battery module extends the backup time of compatible UPS units from the Eaton 9E product line. This battery module for UPS integrates twelve sealed lead-acid batteries, each with 12V and 9Ah parameters, which together deliver a total output voltage of 72V. Its primary function is to increase the capacity of the backup power source, which extends the operating time of connected devices during a power outage. The tower design makes it easy to place next to the main UPS unit and promotes a tidy layout in server rooms or offices. This 72V backup power source is designed to work with online UPS systems, which provide the highest level of protection for sensitive electronics.

Battery and capacity expansion

The core of this module consists of twelve maintenance-free lead-acid batteries, each with 12V and 9Ah parameters. Connecting them extends the time the connected UPS can power critical devices during a power failure. The module is designed to work with online double-conversion UPS units, which supply a stable and clean power source. Compliance with IEC/EN 62040-1 and IEC/EN 62040-2 standards is confirmed by CE, EAC and TUV certifications.

Technology and safety

This external battery module uses a system with online double-conversion topology. This technology continuously filters the input power, thereby isolating connected devices from all anomalies in the mains. The module's batteries are thus always ready to instantly take over the power supply via the main UPS unit's inverter. Compliance with standards such as IEC/EN 62040-1 and IEC/EN 62040-2, verified by CE, TUV and EAC certifications, confirms adherence to strict European requirements for safety and electromagnetic compatibility.

Practical aspects and installation

The module has a tower design with dimensions of 330×399×190mm and a weight of 35.8kg, which contributes to the mechanical stability of the entire setup. The free-standing tower construction is optimised for vertical placement next to the main Eaton 9E UPS unit. Installation is simplified thanks to the included connecting cable with a specific connector for the EBM. Once connected to the UPS, the unit automatically detects the presence of the external module and recalculates the available backup time, which is then displayed in the control software or on the LCD panel. Connection to the main UPS unit is made using the included EBM cable.
