The AXAGON CLR-M2L3 passive aluminium heatsink dissipates heat from M.2 SSDs, particularly NVMe drives, thereby preventing a drop in performance due to overheating. The finned aluminium design effectively increases the surface area for heat dissipation and maintains stable drive performance even under prolonged heavy loads. This passive heatsink supports both single-sided and double-sided M.2 drives measuring 22 × 80 mm. Its use helps to extend the lifespan of both the memory chips and the controller itself.

Heat dissipation
The ribbed aluminium profile increases the total surface area for more efficient heat transfer from the M.2 drive’s surface to the surrounding area. This process reduces the operating temperature of the chips by up to 15 °C. Maintaining optimal temperature conditionshelps to extend the lifespan and maintain the SSD’s full performance, particularly for NVMe variants, which generate more waste heat. Lower temperatures limit component degradation.
Universal installation
Its low profile makes it easy to install even in set-ups with limited space, such as beneath bulky graphics cards. The pack includes two thermal pads, which can be combined to accommodate both single-sided and double-sided M.2 SSDs. The pads fill the gap between the drive and the heatsink to ensure efficient heat transfer. The heatsink can be installed on M.2 slots on motherboards as well as in external adaptors.
